Pre and Post Treatment Instructions: Wrinkle Relaxers
Pre-Treatment Instructions
- If you have a special event or vacation coming up, please keep in mind that you may want to schedule your treatment at least 1 week in advance.
- It is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and red wine at least 3 days to 1 week before treatment if possible to minimize bruising. Other blood thinners you may want to avoid are Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
- If you develop any flu/cold symptoms (fever, cough, aches) or a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
Post-Treatment Instructions
- Do NOT evaluate your results for up to 1 week. Final results will be seen at 2 weeks. All new clients are encouraged to return for a complimentary follow up appointment to make sure the result is good and they are happy. At this visit any little touch-ups or finessing can be done if needed and this should be your final “recipe” so all future visits can be repeated with the same dosing. All clients are different and not “cookie cutter”. Some want very conservative and some want advanced Wrinkle Relaxer treatments. Getting your individulal recipe is of utmost importance and my goal!
- If you have any bruising, call us! We recommend topical and oral Arnica and Bromelain capsules to reduce bruising time. “Dermablend” and “It Cosmentics” are excellent make-ups to to cover bruising. We also have a bruise removal machine at our “sister” medspa if the bruise is really bothering you, feel free to call and we will get you in for a treatment or two.
- Wait until the following day to apply any creams and make-up if possible-the tiny injection sites may get product in them and cause a break out or irritation. If you must wear makeup we recommend a good quality mineral makeup for the face, like “Oxygenix”.
- Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, radio-frequency, and micro-needling for several days after treatment with Dysport, Botox, or Jeuveau.
- Please call to report any signs of infection, such as increased pain, increased swelling, redness, or tenderness, asap.

- Avoid dental cleaning or dental work for 2 weeks before or 4 weeks after treatment with Dermal Fillers.
- It is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and red wine at least 3 days to 1 week before treatment if possible to minimize bruising. Other blood thinners you may want to avoid are Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
- If you have a history of cold sores with outbreaks occurring more than 4 times a year, it is recommended that you are pretreated with medication prior to the injection treatments around or near the mouth area. The medication will need to be initiated 1 day prior to your treatment visit. Call us with your pharmacy information and we can call a prescription in for you.
- If you develop any flu/cold symptoms (fever, cough, aches) or a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
Post-Treatment Instructions
- Ice the treated areas as much as possible for the next 24-48 hours to minimize swelling (except lower eye filler). Please remember one side may heal faster than the other side. Filler may be malleable for the first 1-2 days; to keep the Filler where it has been placed and to keep swelling down, sleep on your back with your head elevated on 2-3 pillows. Benadryl may be taken at night to help keep swelling down also.
- Do NOT evaluate your results for up to 1 week. Swelling should start subsiding within 2 days. All new clients are encouraged to return for a complimentary follow up appointment to make sure the result is good and they are happy. At this visit any little touch-ups or finessing can be done if needed and this should be your final “recipe” so all future visits can be repeated with the same dosing. All clients are different and not “cookie cutter”. Some want very conservative and some want advanced Dermal Filler treatments. Getting your individulal recipe is of utmost importance and my goal!

- Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for 3 days after treatment.
- Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, radio-frequency, and micro-needling for 2 weeks after after treatment with any fillers.
- Please call to report any signs of infection, such as increased pain, increased swelling, redness, or tenderness asap.
